Sounds like your blade may be loading up with debris. Often, you can get a red fired brick, and do some cuts on that to clear the cutting surface on your blade.

Good story with an even better ending. I don't think the bug ever goes away, it sometimes may lay dormant for a while. A friend came back from the Lucky Strike mine the other day with a couple of near football sized thunder-eggs. Those were too big for my old 12 inch Covington, but he left a couple of smaller ones for me to cut for him. I hadn't run the thing in ages - maybe 12 years. (Marriage, jobs, houses, the usual stuff). Anyway, I decided to finally pick up a new blade. But now I can't remember how much weight to use on the gravity feed. I tried about two pounds and all went well for about 3/4 inch, but it doesn't seem to want to cut any more. I'm hesitant to throw more weight on it. I've not seen the manual for ages and those new blades are way more expensive than my table saw... Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Harold,

I would suggest contacting Tony at idahorockshop.com. I know he has set many people up with saws and is willing to ship them if needed. Check out the saw he restored for a gentleman in Arkansas. http://andy321.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sawingb&action=display&thread=37974

I am looking for a 8-10" slabbing/trim saw with auto feed and ideally - auto shut off. I realize this is what everyone wants but I am willing to try anything/anywhere. I live in Houston, B .C. (The one in Texas is the OTHER Houston) which is about 700 miles north of Vancouver, B.C. Rockhounds with equipment for sale are very thin on the ground up here so I am going further afield. Can you help or give me some suggestions?

Your IP address indicates that you are in Alabama. Unfortunately I don't know anybody in Alabama to help you. You could try posting this question in the following rock hound forums.

Hello Jim,

What part do you need to replace?

I get bearings and pulleys at McGuire Bearing Co. There are other bearing companies that carry these parts also. For brackets and shafts I have had to get them custom machined. If I know the specific part I might able to give you a better answer or connect you with a source to get the part.

This site has 16" and 18" Royal saws. Maybe they can help.
