I have some questions about some rocks I am finding. I am just beginning in this rock finding adventure, carving rocks and I know next to nothing about them. How do you recognize some rocks that I am finding. I know what black Obsidian looks like but I have seen pictures of brown obsidian, didn’t know that was even a color for obsidian. I have a purely white rock I found in Hagerman near the Bliss area in Idaho under a wind turbine generator. I don’t really know what jasper looks like but I have had someone tell me some that I have found is Jasper and it like a very nice coffee cream color. I have also found some that looks to quartz or crystal but I am not sure of this at all. I wanted to find these little rocks and carve a chess set out of them or some jewelry for my girlfriend. Is it possible for you to help me out. I can send you pictures of them if you need me to.
